Watchmen who study and look for the rapture are often accused of going from feast to feast to feast. There may be good reason for this. Each feast of the Lord seems to hold significance to those who look at Scripture through the lens of prophecy and redemption. Perhaps God’s deliverance of the Church through the rapture actually pictures all seven of the Lord’s feasts in one event.
(Christ will still fulfill the remaining feasts literally for Israel after the Second Coming.)
“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come…” Col 2:16-17
Passover
“And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us… And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Mark 14:15, Luke 22:15-16
There is yet a future fulfillment of Passover in the Kingdom of God!
“For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us” I Cor 5:7
Also consider the picture of the original Passover: the Israelites eating in safety behind the protection of lamb’s blood while destruction ensues outside. What does that remind you of?
Unleavened Bread
“Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” I Cor 5:7-8
Christ rose from the dead during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, just as the dead in Christ will rise at the rapture. I Thes 4:13-18
“And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.” Lev 23:6
Firstfruits
“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” James 1:18
It is my suspicion that Jesus actually ascended on the Feast of Firstfruits. (Check out Weeks and New Wine for the reasons.) Just as Christ was caught up alive into the clouds, so will the living church at the rapture.
Feast of Weeks
The wave loaves – the birthday of the church – the wheat harvest – the feast which celebrates Boaz & Ruth – the culmination of Firstfruits – the beginning of wine – the centerpiece of the Lord’s feasts – More here…
Feast of Trumpets
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. I Thes 4:16-17
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. I Cor 15:51-52
Feast of Atonement
“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” Rom 5:9-11
Feast of Tabernacles
“For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” Psa 27:5
“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord.” Lev 23:34
