Revelation 12

Who are the characters in the strange wonder of the heaven in Revelation 12?

Revelation 12, along with chapters 11 and 13, seems to describe the important Mid-Point of the Tribulation. Clues:

– John’s visions after Rev 4:1 (and before 22:6) are regarding things “which must be hereafter.” This rules out Rev 12:5 being a description of Christ’s first advent and ascension.

– The Woman (Israel) is already in travail. This also rules out the pre-trib rapture, which occurs before her travail per Isa 66:7-8.

– The Dragon has seven crowns. In the next chapter he (or his beast) has ten crowns, while in the Babylon passage he has no crowns. This seems to suggest that the AC is on his way up, but not yet in complete power. (Dan 7:24 says he will arise AFTER the ten kings. No crowns for Babylon suggest her event happens earlier in the trib.)

– The timeframe of 3.5yrs is mentioned twice in chap 12, and once each in chap 11 and 13

– The earthquake that occurs at the Two-Witness resurrection could be the same one that opens the earth to help the Woman (Jewish remnant) as she flees.

– The remnant that glorifies God at the Two-Witness resurrection could be the fleeing Jewish remnant as they see their supernatural assistance.

– The Man Child caught up to the throne in Rev 12 could be the 144K in addition to the Two Witnesses, who we already know are going to be “raptured.”

  • 144K are male (Man child)
  • 144K are Jewish (Child of the Woman)
  • 144K in first appearance are on earth (Rev 7) and in second appearance are before the throne (Rev 14), the same location the Man Child is caught up to. They have to get there somehow.
  • 144K get sealed possibly for a “rapture” just as Church saints get sealed for the occasion of their rapture (Eph 4:30)

– If arranging the book of Revelation in a chiastic structure, chap 12 falls at the center

Other thoughts:

Wouldn’t it be interesting if there were a 12yr warning to Israel of the mid-trib start of the Dragon’s wrath?

Rev 12 = 12yrs = 12, the number for Israel
